Belize is a politically stable country and a former British colony and as such, inherited a robust legal system based on English Common Law. Nestled strategically between North and Latin America, its geographical location and bilingual population make Belize an easy choice for financial intermediation and outsourcing of various business activities. The local currency is the Belizean Dollar (BZD) which has a fixed exchange rate with the US Dollar (USD) at 2 BZD to 1 USD. Belize enjoys a reputation as a clean and largely compliant jurisdiction.

Belize is a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Central America Region and has various bi-lateral and multi-lateral agreements in place including the Caribbean Basin Initiative, Cari forum- EU Economic Partnership Agreement, and Belize- Guatemala Partial Scope Agreement. These agreements seek to strengthen and widen the scope between the Caribbean, Central America, and Northern regions.
