Mr. Hero Ranjit Balani, MSc., MPM

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Hero Ranjit Balani is an innovative and results-driven leader with over 15 years of experience in managerial, technical, and operational roles. He brings a wealth of expertise and an extensive network in international development and investment. Prior to his appointment as CEO of Finance Belize, he served as the Head of Office and Strategic Planner for the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) in Belize where he coordinated the UN Country Team comprising over 19 UN agencies, funds, and programmes. Before this, he was the UNRCO’s Partnerships and Development Finance Officer, focusing on resource mobilization and the development of strategic partnerships.

Mr. Balani has also worked with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as the General Operational Portfolio Supervision and Country Strategy Consultant supporting portfolio management and monitoring of grants and loans. He also brings nearly a decade of experience in various technical and managerial capacities at the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE). As the Manager of the BelizeINVEST, Investment Generation Unit, he provided business development support to both foreign and local investors, driving investments in key sectors including tourism, agriculture, services, fisheries, energy, manufacturing, and logistics. Throughout his career, Mr. Balani has demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience in financing for development, trade and investment promotion, resource mobilization, policy development, sustainability, and portfolio management.

He holds a Master of Science in International Development: Globalization, Trade and Industry from the University of Manchester, U.K. through the Chevening scholarship programme. He also holds a Master’s in Project Management from the University for International Cooperation in Costa Rica through the Organization of American States (OAS) along with Green Project Management (GPM-b) certification. Mr. Balani maintains a strong interest in sustainable development, entrepreneurship, technology and innovation. In his spare time, he enjoys nature hikes, photography and exploring international cultures.
